Hello Everyone!
My golden birthday has come to an end and I can't begin to tell you how blessed I feel. Seriously, from my work family and friends to my amazing husband I couldn't have asked for a better birthday week. I wanted to put together a quick blog post to rundown what we did during our three days in New York. This was my first time visiting the city so I wanted to squeeze in as much as possible into our short getaway. There is still so much we weren't able to do and see, like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and 9/11 Memorial, but this just gives me a reason to start planning my next trip!
Day 1: We arrived in New York around 3PM and decided to take advantage of the day we had left and the gorgeous weather, so we headed straight to Central Park. I think we visited at the perfect time, because there was so much Spring color everywhere it was so stunning to see. After our walk through the park we grabbed a happy hour glass of wine and then headed back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner.
We stayed at the W New York which sounded nice but the rooms were pretty small and much older than I had anticipated them being, apparently that is the type of space you get in New York. This wasn't a huge deal because we were out and about most of the day and night, but if you are going to be in NYC and plan to be in your room more, definitely do your research!

Day 2: Woke up feeling 27! Even though it decided to be rainy and cold on my Birthday, we still made the best of our day. The hubs brought me a mimosa in bed and then we headed to time square to eat at the iconic Ellens Stardust Diner There are not many places I would wait almost an hour in line for, but the entertainment at this place was so worth it. The food was okay, but the singing servers and the fun atmosphere made it a lunch I will never forget! If you are ever in NYC, you must hit this place up!
After a long day
of walking around Time Square, we got changed and went to dinner at Smith & Wollensky it
was such a gorgeous restaurant and definitely a steak lovers dream. I love
getting dressed up and going to a fancy dinner, but even though I'm getting
older, I would still choose a grilled cheese and fries over a nice meal any
day!!
Birthday Night: One of the
highlights of my trip was getting to see Wicked
on Broadway! I have always been obsessed with the theater so getting to see this show on the Broadway stage was so amazing. The hubs and I are already
trying to plan our next trip to see Harry
Potter and Mean
Girls!
So Much Shopping
Day 3: We decided
to get out of the city and headed to Coney Island! It was only a little over an hour away and
this gave me a chance to experience the NYC subway life...not my favorite form
of transportation, but it beats sitting in New York traffic! We definitely underestimated how much cooler the weather would be near the ocean so we stopped into a gift shop named Surf and Stillwell and grabbed some Brooklyn sweatshirts that were actually really cute. If you ever find yourself visiting that area stop by this shop right off the pier and check out their merch!
Coney Island was not what I thought it would be; I was picturing a newer touristy amusement park, but that was not the case at all. I actually really enjoyed how much older and charming everything was, it made me feel like I was so far away from the city.

We did all of the tourist things like riding most of the roller coasters, including the famous Cyclone wooden coaster which has been around since 1927. We also waited in line for over an hour for a Nathans Hotdog...I don't suggest doing this, it so wasn't worth it.
Last Night: For our last dinner we got dressed up and went to Cecconis Dumbo New York which was located right on the water in Brooklyn bridge park. I would definitely say this is a must visit restaurant while in New York, the food, wine, and dessert were all amazing!
Thanks so much following along and reading my NYC recap, i'm already ready to go back! Leave me a comment if there is anywhere you guys think we should visit on our next trip and check out my insta story travel highlights to see more photos and videos from our New York vaca!
XOXO
